MOULDED PARTS: A SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED VARIETY

Silicone moulded parts are being used more and more in industrial applications,
but more so in the domestic appliance and small electrical appliance industries and in thermal and heating engineering. Furthermore, BIW moulded parts have become indispensable to the automotive industry, which uses silicone plugs and
housing seals. Another application is medical technology, where these parts have become important components in dialysis- and diagnosisequipment.

Alongside HTV (High Temperature Vulcanization), BIW uses above all LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) in highly automated injection moulding machines designed specially for this purpose, and which allow for a high degree of automation. In the injection moulding process, LRS is fed to the core-hardened or plasma-nitrided precision tools by 2K dosing pumps. An excellent cold channel system has been developed thanks to BIW's tool technology. The moulded parts manufactured by this method are:

• Resistant to high temperatures up to +280 °C
• Flexible in extremely cold temperatures down to ?80 °C
• Essentially resistant to chemicals
• Physiologically harmless
• Available in a wide range of colours
• Free of flash, burrs and cavities
