COMPACT OUR MEASURES TO PROTECT ITS EMPLOYEES AND STILL PRODUCE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS For the current and the coming times, the guiding principle of our actions is that we want to protect all people as well as possible from the infection. This is especially true for older and people with pre-existing illness, but there are also severe courses for younger infected people. That is why infection protection and hygiene measures are particularly important everywhere and especially where contacts are necessary, for example in certain work environments or on the way to work. As a company, our top priority is to minimize the risk of infection while maintaining pro- duction. This task results in a wide range of activities, most of which are anchored in our company‘s risk management. New, additional entrances have been created in production to separate areas from one another and home-office solutions have been implemented where possible. Our strong, largely local supply chain and adequate stocks have enabled us to maintain our operations and service in full since the outbreak. In these situations, in particular, it becomes clear that pure “global sourcing” also has its disadvantages. As an advocate of a mix of “global sourcing“ and a tight local supply chain, BIW never had to wait for missing raw materials. We are therefore proud to be able to say: BIW is fully deliverable. Due to our global presence, we noticed the first signs of the corona virus at an early stage of the outbreak. Our team in China informed us quickly, which is why we were able to react proactive, fast and efficient to the situation. At this point we would like to thank not only our team, but especially our raw material suppliers, whose supply chain has always been maintained without restriction. We would particularly like to mention the suppliers Wacker Chemie, Burghausen and Elkem Silicones France SAS, Lyon. Not only in the medical and pharmaceutical sector, but also in all other industries, delivery security is our greatest concern, provided that the safety of our employees is not risked. In order to achieve this balancing act and to maintain the service, we have introduced all appropriate measures. These include the “Social Distancing Rules”, the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute with regard to infection protection and the hygiene plans. Numerous measures to ensure hygiene were implemented within a very short period of time and are constantly adapted along the lines of political decisions. At last, we ask for your understanding if there should be delays in our delivery processes, since we have to plan and produce government contracts for the production of respiratory tubes, for example.
